సత్చరిత ఉద్దేశ్యం

హేమద్పంత్ సాయి ఆశీస్సులతో సాయి సత్చరిత గ్రంధానికి శ్రీకారం చుట్టారు. ఆయనకు బాబా ఇలా బోధ చేశారు "నీవు నీ పనిని చేయి. మనసులో ఏ మాత్రం బయపడకు. నా మాటలందు పూర్తీ విశ్వాసముంచు. నా లీలలను రచిస్తే అజ్ఞాన దోషం తొలిగిపోతుంది. భక్తి భావంతో శ్రవణం చేస్తే ప్రపంచంపై ధ్యాస మాయమవుతుంది. శ్రవణమనే సాగరాన భక్తి ప్రేమామృతమనే అలలు లేస్తాయి. వానిలో మరల మరల మునకలు వేస్తె జ్ఞాన రత్నాలు లభిస్తాయి" అని చక్కగా చెప్పారు బాబా. 

ఎలాగైతే హేమద్పంత్ గారికి సత్చరిత వ్రాసే కార్యం అప్పచెప్పారో, అలానే ఒక్కో భక్తుడికి ఒక్కో పని అప్పచెప్తారు. మనలో ఉన్న వాసనలను బట్టి మనకు పనులు ఇస్తారు. ఒకరికి మందిర నిర్మాణం, ఒకరికి హరికథా కీర్తనాదులలో నిమగ్నులను చేశారు. మనందరం అర్ధం చేసుకోవాల్సిన విషయం బాబా శిష్యుడుగా ఏమి చేశారు అన్న సత్యం. మనందరం సత్చరితలో చదువుకున్నాము బాబా లాంటి శిష్యుడు వేరెవరు ఉండరు అని. ఎందుకంటే ఆయనకు గురువు తప్పితే వేరే ఆలోచనే లేదు. బాబాకు బయట హాంగులుతో పని లేదు. ఆయనకు కావాల్సినదల్లా ఆయన చూపించిన మార్గంలో నడవడమే.  

ఆధ్యాత్మిక మార్గంలో నడిచే వారు ప్రక్క దారులు పట్టే అవకాశం ఎక్కువగా ఉంటుంది. సముద్రంలో ఓడలు సుడిగుండాలలో చిక్కుకుపోకుండా, పెద్ద రాతి బండలు కొట్టుకోకుండా, నిరాటంకంగా సాగిపోవడానికి, అపాయాలను సూచించే ఎర్రటి దీపస్తంభాలను (లైట్ హౌసెస్) నిర్మిస్తారు. ఈ దీపపు స్తంభాలు ఆ నావలు ఓడ్డుకు చేరటానికి ఉపయోగపడ్తాయి. చీకటిలో వాటికి దారి చూపిస్తాయి. 

సాయినాథుని మధురమైన కథలు అమృతం సహితం సిగ్గుపడేలా, దుస్తరం అయిన భవసాగర మార్గాన్ని అతి సులువుగా దాటింపచేస్తాయి. సాయి కథలు ధన్యం. వారి కథలు శ్రవణం ద్వారా హృదయంలోకి ప్రవేశించి శరీరాభిమానాన్ని బయటకు నేట్టివేస్తాయి. సుఖదుఖాలనే ద్వంద్వాలు ఉండవు. సాయి కథలను హృదయంలో భద్రపరుచుకుంటే మనసులోని వికల్పాలు నలు దిక్కులా పారిపోతాయి. బాబా యొక్క నిర్మలమైన యశస్సును వర్ణిస్తే, ప్రేమతో శ్రవణం చేస్తే భక్తుల కల్మషాలు దహించుకు పోతాయి. 

సాయి ప్రేమను ఆవుతో పోల్చారు హేమద్పంత్. ఆవు పొదుగునిండా పాలు ఉన్నా దూడ లేకుండా పాలు ఇవ్వదు. బిడ్డ ఆకలి తల్లికి తెలుస్తుంది అంటారు. అలానే బాబా మనలను వెన్నంటి కాపాడుతూ ఉంటారు. ఒక రోజు గురు పూర్ణిమ రోజున అణ్ణా చించణీకర్ హేమద్పంత్ ఉద్యోగం లేక బాధల్లో ఉంటే సహాయం చేయమని అర్థిస్తాడు. అప్పుడు బాబా "ఇతనికి ఏదొక ఉద్యోగం వస్తుంది. ఇప్పుడు మాత్రం నా సేవ చేయనీ. ఇతని పళ్ళాలు ఎప్పుడు నిండి ఉంటాయి. యావజ్జీవం అవి ఖాళీ కావు. భక్తితో నా వాడై ఉంటే ఇతని ఆపదలన్నీ హరింప చేస్తాను" ఇలా అతనికి భరోసా ఇచ్చారు. 

సాయి చరిత్ర మనకు జ్ఞానాన్ని ప్రసాదించి, అహంభావాన్ని నశించేటట్లు చేస్తుంది. అహం నశిస్తే ఆత్మసాక్షాత్కారం కల్గుతుంది. 

 రోహిల్లా కథ ద్వారా .చిత్త సుద్ధి ఎలా సాధించాలో చెప్పారు.  రోహిల్లా అర్ధరాత్రి కూడా "అల్లాహ్ అక్బర్" అని కల్మా చదువుతూ ఉంటే గ్రామస్తులకు ఇబ్బందిగా ఉండేది. వారు ఈ విషయం గురించి బాబాకు చెప్పుకున్నారు. అప్పుడు బాబా ఆతని కేకలు నాకు చాలా సుఖాన్ని ఇస్తాయి. అతడు ఆలా అరవడం చాలామంచిది. లేక పొతే దుష్టురాలైన అతని భార్య నాకు చాలా కష్టాన్ని కలుగచేస్తుంది. అతడు అలసి పోయినప్పుడు అతడే శాంతిస్తాడు అని గ్రామస్తులను ఓదార్చారు. ఇక్కడ నిజంగా ఆ రోహిల్లాకు భార్య లేదు. భగవన్నామ స్మరణ వల్ల మన చిత్తం సుద్ధి అవుతుంది. అలానే సాయి అనే స్మరణ సాయి భక్తులందఱకు మంచిది. 

ఒక రోజు బాబా మధ్యాన్న ఆరతి అయిన తరువాత ఇలా చెప్పారు. మీరెక్కడ ఉన్నా మీ చర్యలన్నీ నేను గమనిస్తూ ఉంటాను. ఇలా తెలిసిన నేను సర్వాంతర్యామినై అందరి హృదయాల్లో ఉండేవాణ్ణి. అంతటా చరించేవాణ్ణి. చరాచర సృష్టిలో ఉన్న అన్ని జీవ రాశులలో నేను ఉన్నాను. సకల ప్రాణులకు తల్లిని. ఇవన్నీ నడిపించే సూత్రధారిని నేనే. నా యందు శ్రద్ధ ఉన్న వారికి ఏ కష్టాలు ఉండవు. నన్ను మరిచిపోయిన వారిని మాయ కొరడాతో కొడుతుంది. ఈ దృశ్య జగత్తు నా రూపం. అంటే చీమ, క్రిమికీటకం, రాజు పేద స్థావర జంగమాలు అన్ని నా రూపమే అని తన నిజ స్వరూపం గురించి చెప్పారు. 

సమర్ధ సాయి అన్న మంత్రంతో వారి పవిత్ర పాదాలను ధ్యానం చేసే భక్తులకు ముక్తిని ప్రసాదించే ఆ సూత్రధారి చరిత్ర పావనమైనది. సాయి చరిత్ర విన్నా చదివినా వారి చిత్తం సుద్దమవుతుంది అని అధ్యాయం చివరలో చెప్పారు.

Sai Satcharita - Importance

In the third chapter Hemadpanth continued to describe how baba blessed him to write the Satcharita and he gave the narration of Baba’s words as follows. You perform your duty. Do not have the least doubts in your mind. Have full faith in my words and be of resolute mind. If you write about my leelas, it will wipe out the faults which have arisen due to ignorance. And when you listen to it with faith your worldly involvements will disappear. It will cause waves of love and devotion to rise on the ocean of the mind; and, diving into them now and then, will bring up gems of knowledge. Whoever sings my praises, I will bestow upon him complete happiness, permanent pleasure and contentment. Believe this as the Truth.

Baba knows what kind of work needs to be assigned to each devotee. Some devotees were made to build temples; some were made to lose themselves in the joy of kirtan1; some were sent on pilgrimages. The simple fact that we all need to understand is what Baba did as sishya of his own Guru. He just followed him and he used to think about him all the time.

We see light houses anchored near the sea to guide the movement of ships by warning them to keep off the rocks and whirlpools. In a similar way, for people who tend to side track easily in everyday life, tales of Sai will navigate us safely and will smoothen the difficult paths of the ocean of existence. Blessed are the tales of the saints that penetrate into the consciousness through the ears and cleanse the bodily ego and destroy the sense of duality. Hemadpanth writes so much about the wisdom in the third chapter. He also describes about Brahman, and how we can reach that ultimate state. The third chapter also talks about how simply listening to Sai tales will get through so many problems of life, and free us from worldly vices. This will also free us from the shackles of bondage.

Sai’s love is compared to a cow’s love towards its own calf. Sai was portrayed as mother who knows everything about its child. He will take care of us in every life. Once Anna Chinchanekar pleaded with Baba about Hemadpanth’s financial situation after he retired. His pension was not enough to survive. Baba promised that he will get another job but for now he should resort to Baba’s feet only. Baba also promised that he will never have any difficulty with food or daily life. This reassurance was sufficient for Hemadpanth and he continued to serve Baba without any second thoughts.

Baba taught us how to purify our mind through the story of Rohilla. This rohilla came to Shirdi and was attracted by Baba’s virtues. He stayed there for a long time and devoted himself to Baba. He used to recite Kalma and pray to God in the night time in a bigger voice. This used to bother the villagers who came home after day full of hard work. They spoke to Baba about this and Baba reassured them by saying “Do not harass the Rohilla. He is very dear to me. This Rohilla’s wife is a virago and not ready to stay with him. She is eager to come to me by eluding him. That woman does not observe the veil. She is without modesty and shameless. If driven out she comes back forcibly into the house. When he himself gets tired, he will keep quiet automatically”. The Rohilla does not have a wife but what Baba meant was by him reciting the God’s name his mind will be purified and the bad thoughts will not cripple him. Indirectly Baba is communicating to us to follow this recitation of God’s name to clear our hurdles in the spiritual path.

 Once, after the noon Arati, Baba spoke sweet words from his lips and they are as sollows.

“Wherever you are, and whatever you may be doing, always bear it in mind that I shall continue to be informed of the minutest details of your deeds. I dwell in the minds of all; I am in the hearts of all, and all pervading. I am the Lord of all. I fill the entire creation, within and without, to the point of overflowing. This universe is directed by God and I am the one who holds the reins. I am the Mother of all beings. I am the Creator, the Preserver and the Destroyer.

Baba continues “One who concentrates on me, for him nothing is difficult. But the moment he forgets me, Maya will attack him. Whatever is perceived is my image only, whether it is a worm, an ant, a poor wretch or a king”.

If one wishes to surrender at the feet of the Guru, one should sing the praises of the Guru or recite the life-story of the Guru or listen to the tales about him with devotion. We need to have utmost devotion so that the Supreme Energy will appear before us and the mind will be elevated. Even we are engrossed in worldly affairs and if we hear the tales of a saint, without making the slightest efforts, they will still do better because such is their nature. Then if they are listened to with faith and devotion, how much good can be gained.

The devotion to the Guru’s feet is enough and no other rites or rituals are necessary. The Supreme Good will be attained by doing so. Once the mind is disciplined in this way, the longing to listen to the stories will increase. The bonds of sense objects will easily break away and extreme happiness will pervade.
