సాయి స్పర్శ - అనుగ్రహం

బాబాకు మనం రోజు పూజ చేసుకుంటాము. ఆయన భక్తిలో చాలామంది పరవశం పొందుతారు. అలాంటి పరవశమే ఇప్పుడు మన అందరమూ పొంద ప్రయత్నిద్దాము. బాబా ఆరతి అయిన తరువాత ద్వారకామాయి అరుగు మీద కూర్చొని ఒక్కొక్కరికి నుదిటిన ఊది పెట్టి ఆశీర్వదించి పంపుతారు. ఒక్కసారి మనం కూడా ఆ అనుభూతిని పొందుదాము. 

ఇప్పుడే ఆరతి అయిపొయింది. మనమందరము ఒక వరుసలో బాబా ఆశీర్వదంకోసం తపిస్తూ ముందుకు నడుస్తున్నాము. బాబా దివ్యమంగళ రూపం మనకు కనిపిస్తుంది. ఆయన పొడవాటి తెల్లని కఫ్ని  ధరించి ఉన్నారు. తలపై ఒక తెల్లటి గుడ్డను చుట్టి దాని అంచులు జడవలె మెలిబెట్టి ముడివేసి ఎడమ చెవుమీదగా వెనుకకు వేలాడుతూ ఉంది. బాబా వెనక ద్వారకామాయిలో ఉన్న ధుని మంట కనపడుతుంది. ఆ ధుని వెలుతురు బాబా తల వెనక ఒక కాంతిపుంజంలాగా కనపడుతూ ఉంది. వెనుక గోడ దగ్గర ఉన్న గూడు, పూల మాలలతో ఉన్న నింబారు బాబా యొక్క నిర్గుణ స్వరూపాన్ని గుర్తుచేస్తుంది. 

ఇంతలోనే బాబా ఎదురుగా చేరుకున్నాము. ఆయన దగ్గరకు వెళ్ళగానే ఎదో తెలియని అనుభూతి. అలానే మనసులో నా తండ్రిని చూస్తున్నాను, ఆయన ఆశీర్వాదాన్ని పొందబోతున్నాను అనే ఉత్కంఠ. అంతలో బాబా కుడిచెయ్యి పైకి లేచింది. నా కళ్ళు మూతలు పడ్డాయి. ఊది నుదిటిపై పెట్టి బాబా తన చేతిని నా తలపై ఉంచారు. నా మనస్సు సంతోషంతో నిండిపోయి, కండ్లనిండా ప్రేమ పొంగిపోయింది. ఈ ఆనందానికి అవధులు లేవు. నా గురువు నా హృదయంలోనే ఉన్నారు అన్న భావన అధికం అయింది. నేను, నీవు అన్న భావన ఈ స్పర్శతో నశించింది. సాయియే సర్వం అనిపించింది. అంతా సాయి మయం, ఎప్పుడు లేని అనుభూతి. సాయే శ్రీరాముడు, శ్రీకృష్ణుడు, పరమ శివుడు. సాయే సర్వదేవతా స్వరూపము. సాయే నిర్గుణము. ఈ అనుభూతి ఎప్పుడూ ఇలాగే ఉండిపోతే బాగుంటుంది అని మనసులో ఆరాటం. 

హేమద్పంత్ గారు గురు కర స్పర్శ  ప్రభావం గురించి మనకు కళ్ళకు కట్టినట్లు చూపించి అందులో ఉన్న పరమార్ధాన్ని తెలిపారు. ఈ అనుభవం బ్రహ్మైక్య భావనతో సమానమైనదిగా చెప్పారు.

Sai's blessing - Ultimate touch

We worship Baba most of the time and the devotees experience some kind of bliss. We will try to experience similar kind of bliss right now. Let us close our eyes and let us immerse our selves in Sai's world. 

Let us imagine that we are at Dwarakamai and Sai arathi is just finished. After Arathi is done Baba is sitting on the steps of Dwarakamai and people are standing in line to get the blessings of Baba.  We can see glowing and mesmerizing form of Baba in front of us. Baba is wearing the long white Kaphni and there is a scarf on his head. This scarf is tied in such way that part of it hanging by the side of his left ear. There is a glow behind him and the fire from Dhuni is lighting behind Sai. The back wall in the Dwaramai is decorated with garlands. This reminds us the formless Nirguna aspect of Sai.  

As we are thinking this way we approached Sai and our heart is filled with joy. We are seeing our Guru and the moment came so that we can get his blessings. As soon as the boon giving hand, which has the Udi from Dhuni touches my head, my heart goes into rapture with inner happiness and my eyes brim with love. Sai is filled in my heart and there is no such thing as mine anymore. Everything was Sai and I do not exist anymore.  Sai is my Sriram, Srikrishna and Siva. He is the embodiment of all the Gods.  He is also the formless Nirguna. Let this feeling stay forever. 

Like this Hemadpanth showed us the ecstasy of Baba's touch and his presence. This experience he compared to the ultimate experience of Self realization.

OM SRI SAIRAM!

గురువు - ఆహ్వానం

బాబా కొంత కాలం షిర్డీలో ఉండి అదృశ్యం అవుతారు. తరువాత కొంతకాలం ఆయన ఎక్కడఉన్నారో ఎవరికీ తెలియదు. ఔరంగాబాదు జిల్లాలోని ధూప్ అనే చిన్న గ్రామంలో చాంద్ పాటిల్ అనే భాగ్యశాలికి మొట్టమొదట కనిపిస్తారు. ఈ పాటిల్ తన గ్రామానికి అధికారి. చాంద్ పాటిల్ రెండునెలలుగా తప్పిపోయిన గుర్రాన్ని వెదుకుతూ ఉంటారు. గుర్రం జీను భుజాన వేసుకొని దిగాలుగా వెనుతిరిగి వెళ్తున్నప్పుడు ఒక మామిడి చెట్టు కింద బాబా కూర్చుని ఉంటారు. పాటిల్కు ఆ గుర్రం జాడ తెలిపి నిప్పు నీరు భూమిలో నుంచి తెప్పించి ఆశ్యర్య పరుస్తారు.

తరువాత బాబాను తన ఇంటికి ఆహ్వానించి తీసుకువెళతారు. ఈ సన్నివేశం గురించి మనం ఎన్నో సార్లు చదువుకున్నాము. 

ఇక్కడ గుఱ్ఱం తప్పిపోవడం అంటే మన మనస్సు మన అధీనంలో లేకుండా పోయి మనం పరమాత్మకు దూరం అవడం. గురువు మన జీవితంలో ప్రవేశించితే వారు మనకు సరిఅయిన దారి చూపించితే మనస్సుని ఆధీనంలోకి తెచ్చుకోవడం తేలిక అవుతుంది.  ఇక్కడ గుడ్డను నీటితో తడపడం అంటే మనలో ఉన్న రజోతమో గుణాలను పోగొట్టడం. అలానే నిప్పుతో పొగాకు వెలిగించటం అంటే మనలో జ్ఞాన జ్యోతిని వెలిగించడం. ఒక్క సారి ఈ జ్యోతి వెలిగితే ఇంక మనలో మార్పులు వస్తాయి.  గురువుని హృదయ మందిరంలో పదిలంగా ప్రతిష్ట చేసుకోవాలి. అంటే మన ఇంటికి ఆహ్వానించాలి.

చాంద్ పాటిల్ భార్య మేనల్లుడి పెళ్లి కోసం బాబా పెళ్లిబృందంతో కలిసి షిర్డీ రెండోసారి వస్తారు. వారు ఖండోబా ఆలయం దగ్గర దిగగానే మహల్సాపతి "రండి సాయి" అని పిలుస్తారు. అప్పటి నుండి అందరు బాబాను సాయి సాయి అని పిలవడం మొదలు పెట్టారు. మహల్సాపతి గారు ఎప్పటినుండో గురువు కోసం తపించిపోతూ ఉంటారు. సాయి రావడంతో అయన జీవితంలోకి గురువు ప్రవేశించారు.  

మనం కూడా మన జీవితంలోకి గురువు వచ్చి జ్ఞాన జ్యోతి వెలిగించాలని సదా కోరుకుందాము. బాబాను మన గుండెలో నింపుకొని, ఆయన చూపిన దారిలో నడుద్దాము.

Inviting Guru

Baba stayed short time in Shirdi as a young boy and disappears for a while. Nobody knew where he was and he suddenly appears in a small village by name Dhup in Aurangabad district.  The village head for that area by name Chand patil lost his horse and has been searching for more than 2 months. He looked all over and could not locate his horse and one day he sees fakir sitting under a mango tree who later shows where his horse is. Patil looked all around several times but it was not there before. He was surprised to see this special fakir creating fire and water out of nowhere. Then this Patil begs this fakir to come to his house and accept his service. 


We read about this several times in the Satcharita but let us learn the inner meaning of this incident. 

Here the lost horse indicates our mind and we are strayed from God. We are wandering not knowing the truth. Then Guru comes along to show the correct path. 

Baba used his satka to get fire from the earth which represents the lighting of inner wisdom in us. But to sustain this knowledge we need to dilute the bad qualities in us.  Once this wisdom is installed then we have to realize the importance of Guru in our lives. That means we have to invite Guru into our home like Patil did. Here our home means our heart. We can worship Baba in any form but we have to keep Baba in our hearts.

Baba goes to Shirdi second time with a marriage procession of Chand Patil wife’s nephew. As soon as he arrived there, Mahalsapathi sees this fakir and invites him by saying “Ya Sai”. Since then this fakir became Sai. Mahalsapathi has been waiting for a Guru. His wish became true once Sai came back to Shirdi. Then Sai made the Dwarakamai as his abode.

We will also make a strong wish that Sai ignite Jnana Jyothi in our lives and we will continue to show our love towards our Sri Sai Guru.

జ్ఞాన జ్యోతి - నీటితో దీపాలు

షిర్డీ సాయి సాకారుడిగా శరీరంలో ఉన్నప్పుడు ఎన్నో చమత్కారాలు చేసి మన మనస్సులను మార్చే ప్రయత్నం చెసారు. సాయి నిరాకారుడుగా మన అందరి హృదయాలలో ఉండి మనకు ఎన్నో అనుభూతులను, చమత్కారాలను చూపిస్తూనే ఉంటారు. ఈ సత్యాన్ని మనం ఎప్పటికి మరవకూడదు. 

మనకు కష్టం వచ్చినప్పుడు మాత్రమే సాయిని తలవటం కాదు, మన మనస్సే సాయి నిలయం కావాలి. అప్పుడు కష్టం గురుంచిన ఆలోచనే మనకు రాదు. ఒక వేళ వచ్చినా అది అంతగా మనలను బాధ పెట్టదు. మనం ఈ కష్టాల వలయం వద్దని కోరుకుంటాము, కాని మనం ఆ వలయంలోనే జీవించి ఉండాల్సి ఉంది. మనము ఈ క్షణికమైన జీవితాన్ని, ఈ వలయాన్ని దాటి పరమాత్మ తత్త్వం అనే సత్యాన్ని అర్థం చేసుకోవాలని సాయి తపన పడుతూనే ఉంటారు. శ్రద్ధ సహనాలనే మంత్రాలతో ఈ సత్యాన్ని అనుభవంలోకి తెచ్చుకోవాలని మనకు బోధ చేసారు. 

బాబా చేసిన చమత్కారాలలో ఉండే ఆధ్యాత్మిక బోధలను మనం అర్ధం చేసుకోవటానికి ప్రయత్నం చేయాలి. వాటిని అర్థం చేసుకుంటే మానవ జన్మ లక్ష్యం ఏమిటో మనకు అవగతం అవుతుంది. ఈ లక్ష్యాన్ని చేరటానికి కావాల్సిన సాధనాసామాగ్రిని మనకు ఇచ్చి, బాబా మన దగ్గరే ఉండి మనలను అనుగ్రహిస్తారు. అటువంటి ఆధ్యాత్మిక అర్ధం ఉన్న చమత్కారమే నీటితో దీపాలను వెలిగించిన సన్నివేశం. కాని దీన్నీ ఒక చమత్కారంలాగా మాత్రమె చూడకుండా దాన్లో ఉన్న అర్ధాన్ని గ్రహించాలి.

ఈ నీటి దీపాల గురించి సాయి సచ్చరితలో ఇలా చెప్పబడింది. 

మొదట్లో సాయి సమర్ధులకు దీపొత్సవమ్ అంటే చాలా ప్రీతి. అందుకోసం వారు స్వయంగా దుఖాణదారుల వద్దకు వెళ్లి నూనెను అడిగేవారు. రేకు డబ్బా పుచ్చుకొని నూనె తెచ్చి దీపాలను వెలిగించెవారు. అలా కొన్ని రోజులు ఆగకుండా ఈ ప్రక్రియ సాగింది. దీపారాదన అన్నబాబాకు బహుప్రేమ. దీపావళి వలె దీపోత్సవాన్ని చేసేవారు. చింకి గుడ్డలతో వత్తులు చేసి మసీదులో దీపాలను వెలిగించేవారు. 

రోజూ ఉచితంగా నూనె అడిగి తెచ్చేవారు. దాంతో వ్యాపారుల మనస్సులో దురాలోచన కలిగింది. అందరూ కలిసి బాబాకు నూనె ఇవ్వకూడదని అనుకోని బాబా వచ్చినప్పుడు నూనె లేదని చెప్తారు. బాబా మౌనంగా తిరిగి వస్తారు. అప్పుడు బాబా ఏమిచేస్తారో అని వాళ్ళందరు వింతగా చూడసాగారు. బాబా మసీదులో ఉన్న రేకు డబ్బాను తీసుకోని దాంట్లో ఉన్న కొంచం నూనేను తాగేశారు. ఆ విధంగా బ్రహ్మాఅర్పణ చేసి ఒట్టి నీటిని ప్రమిదలలో పోశారు. తరువాత ఆ నీటిలో పొడి వత్తులను తడిపి అగ్గిపుల్లను గీచి దీపాలను వెలిగించారు. నీటితో దీపాలు వెలగటం చూసి వర్తకులు ముక్కు మీద వేలు వేసుకున్నారు. మేము బాబాతో అబద్దం చెప్పామని వారిలో వారు అనుకున్నారు. కొంచమైన నూనె లేకుండా నీటితో దీపాలు రాత్రంతా వెలగటం చూసి వర్తకులు సాయి అనుగ్రహానికి పాత్రులు కారని అందరు అనుకొన్నారు. బాబా యొక్క సామర్ద్యం తెలియక తప్పు చేసామని వర్తకులు పశ్చాత్తాప పడ్డారు. కాని బాబా మనసుని జయించిన వారు. వారికి రాగద్వేషాలు ఉండవు. వారికి శత్రువులు మిత్రులూ అంటూ లేరు. వారికి అన్ని ప్రాణులు సమానమే. 

ఈ సన్నివేశం లోని అర్థం

ఈ కథలోని అర్ధాన్ని మనం అర్ధం చేసుకోవాలంటే మనం కాకడ ఆరతి గుర్తు చేసుకోవాలి. మనం ఈ అరతిలో ఈ విధంగా పాడుకొంటాము. 

కాకడ ఆరతి కరీతో సాయి నాథ దేవా!చిన్మయ రూపా దాఖవి ఘేవుని బాలక లఘు సేవా!!

హే సాయి ప్రభూ: నీకు కాకడ హారతి అర్పిస్తున్నాను! పసివాడను అయిన నా సేవను ప్రేమతో స్వీకరించి, నీ చిన్మయరూపం నాకు ద్యోతకం అయ్యేటట్టు చేయి దేవా!!

కామ క్రోధ మద మత్సర - ఆటుని కాకడ కెలా!

వైరాగ్యాచే తూప కాడుని మీతో బిజవీలా!  

సాయి నాథుని గురు భక్తి జ్వలినేతోమీ పేటవిలా! 

తద్ వృత్తి జాలునీ గురునే - ప్రకాశపాడిలా!! 

ద్వైతతమా నాసునీ- మిళవీ తత్స్వరూపి జీవా!!!

అరిషడ్ వర్గాలతో ఉన్న నా మనస్సును ఒత్తిగా చేసి,

వైరాగ్యం అనే నేతితో తడిపి, 

నీ ఫైనున్న అనన్య భక్తి అనే జ్యోతిని వెలిగించాను. 

ఆ కాంతిలో నా గురు దేవుడు ప్రకాశవంతంగా కనిపించారు. 

ద్వైతభావం నశించి, తత్స్వరూపిగా జీవుడు మిగిలాడు.  

ఆధ్యాత్మిక భావం

సాయి మనలను అడుగుతున్నది ఏమిటి?

ఈ జీవన వ్యాపారం చేసే వర్తకులం అయిన మననుంచి సాయి అడిగే తైలం ఏమిటి?

ఈ కథలో లాగా మనమందరమూ నూనె వర్తకులమే. ఇక్కడ నూనె అంటే వైరాగ్యము.

బాబా అడిగేది శ్రద్దా సబూరి మాత్రమే. కాని మనం కూడా ఆ వ్యాపారుల లాగా బాబా అడిగిన దాన్ని ఇవ్వము. 

కాకడ అరతిలో చెప్పినట్లుగా కామ క్రోధ లోభ మోహ మద మాత్స్యర్యములను అరిషడ్ వర్గములను వదులుకోలేము. ఈ ఆరింటిని ఒక వత్తిలాగా చేసి, వైరాగ్యం అనే నేతిలో ముంచి, భక్తి అనే భావనతో ఉన్నప్పుడు సాయి సమర్ధులు ఈ దీపాన్ని వెలిగిస్తారు. ఈ దీపం వెలిగించితే, ఇక అజ్ఞానమనే అంధకారం తోలిగిపోతుంది. అప్పుడు మన జీవితం జ్ఞానవంతం అవుతుంది. అప్పుడు జీవుడికి ద్వైత భావన తొలిగిపోయి తనే పరమాత్మననే అనుభూతిలో ఉండిపోతాడు. 

మనం బాబా అడిగిన శ్రద్ద సబూరిలను ఇవ్వక పోయినా సాయి మనలను ఎప్పుడూ క్షమిస్తూనే ఉంటారు. 

ఆయన అపర దయామూర్తి. 

అయన కరుణా పూర్వకమైన చూపులే చాలు మనలను జాగృతం చేయడానికి. 

అయన మనలను అనుగ్రహించే ప్రక్రియలో చూపించే సహనం అద్వితీయం. 

ఒక్కసారి మనం కనుక అయన అడిగింది ఇవ్వడం ప్రారంబిస్తే ఇక సాయి అనుగ్రహానికి అంతే ఉండదు. 

సాయి మనలను మన గమ్యానికి చేర్చిందాక వదలరు. 

సాయి ఎలాగైతే నీటితో దీపాలను వెలిగించారో అలానే ఏ అష్టాంగ సాధనల అవసరం లేకుండా  మనకు ఆత్మసాక్షాత్కారం కలగ చేస్తారు. మనకు కావాల్సిందల్లా సాయిఫై అపారనమ్మకం. 

మనలో ఆ తైలం కాస్తంత తగ్గినా, లేకపోయినా కేవలం నీటితోనే మనలో ఆ దీపాన్ని వెలిగిస్తారు. 

అటువంటి నమ్మకాన్ని మనం కలిగిఉందాము. 

ఎన్ని అడ్డంకులు వచ్చినా ఈ గురు మార్గంలోనే నడుద్దాం. 

సాయి అనే తారక మంత్రాన్ని గట్టిగా పట్టుకుందాం.

The lamp of Knowledge - Aqua Lamps

Shirdi Sai showed us so many miracles when he was in flesh. He performed these so called miracles not to impress anyone but to change our lame minds. The omnipresent Sai continued to show miracles and personal experiences by living in our hearts. We should never forget this fact. 

We usually think of Sai when face difficulties, and this is fine. But our hearts should be the abode of Sai. Then we do not even be concerned about the difficulties in our lives. Even if we face such problems, they do not bother us. We do not wish to be in that vicious whirlpool of life. But that is reality and we cannot avoid it. We have to go beyond the difficulties of life to realize the supreme God. Baba always tried to teach us this as a fact by giving us powerful mantras such as Shradda & Sabhuri. 

We have to make an effort to understand the deeper meaning behind Sai's teachings. If we understand these teachings, our lives will be improved and we will walk towards the ultimate goal of human life. Baba will protect us, if we choose to travel this path. He will bless us by staying all the way with us. One of those special teachings came through the following story.  The story of lighting earthen lamps with water is an illustration of his nature. This is called Yatha Sankalpa Siddhi.  We cannot just look at this incident as a miracle but as a means to change our lives.

The story from the Sai Satcharita goes as follows ;

In the early days, the great Sai was very fond of burning oil lamps. Therefore, he himself used to go to the shopkeepers and ask for oil. Carrying a tumbler-like container in his hand, he begged for oil from the shops of the grocers and oil-mongers. After bringing it he would fill the earthen oil lamps. He burnt the lamps brightly in the temples and the Masjid. This continued for sometime. Out of love for the worship of the light, he even celebrated Deepavali with illumination. He would make twisted wicks from rags and would burn the lamps in the Masjid. He brought the oil, daily, free of charge. Therefore, the oil-mongers conspired against him to put an end to this nuisance. Later, when Baba asked for oil as usual, the shop keepers refused, it leads to a great wonder by Baba, to enlighten us in the spiritual path. Baba went back without a word and put the dry wicks in the earthen lamps. What could he do without the oil? The grocers watched that fun! Baba picked up a pot, which was on the parapet of the Masjid, in which there was little oil, not enough even to light the evening lamp. Then he put water into the oil and Baba drank it. Thus having offered it to Brahman, he took pure water. Then he poured the water in the lamp and soaked the dry wicks completely; struck the matchsticks and lit the lamps for all to see. Seeing the lamps burning with water, the grocers were dumbfounded. They felt disgusted with themselves that they had lied to Baba. Even though there was not a drop of oil, the lamps burnt throughout the night. People started commenting that the shopkeepers had now lost Sai’s grace.  The grocers felt repentant for having harassed Baba (causing him anguish without any reason) and having committed the sin of uttering lies. They realized how great the Baba’s power is! Baba never thought of this. He was never angry or hated any person. He had no friends or foes, and all creatures were equal for him.

Spiritual meaning behind this story:  

We can learn the meaning behind the story from the Kaakad aarati. We all recite the following words during the aarati.

Kaakad aarati kareeto Sainatha deva
Chinmaya roop daakhavee ghewuni balak laghu seva

Let me do Kaakad Aarti, in the early morning hours, O Lord Sainath! Show me your pure, intelligent and handsome form, and accept this insignificant service from me, your child.

Kaam krodh mad matsar aattunee kaakada kela
Vairagyache toop ghaaluni mee to bhijaveela

I have compressed and entwined lust, anger, ego, envy and made them into a wick for the lamp; and soaked it into the ghee (clear butter) of asceticism that I have poured.

Sainath Guru bakti jwalane to mee petawila
Tad vryitti jaluni guroo ne prakash paadila
Dwaita tama naasooni milavi tatswaroopi jeewa

I have lit it with the spark of devotion for Sainath Guru (Master). After burning up the vices, the Guru has shed the light on me. Destroy the darkness of duality and merge me in thy Self.

If we carefully examine the meaning; 

What Baba is asking us? 

Sai Baba is asking us for oil and we are all shop keepers. 

Oil is nothing but asceticism (Vairagya or dispassion).  

If we refuse to give him the faith and patience, then he cannot help us to get rid of the six enemies ( Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Mada & Matsarya)  which are called together as Arishadvargas. 

We have to make these six enemies into a wick, soak it in the oil of dispassion or vairagya and light with spark of devotion. 

Even if we do not have enough oil or have no oil, still Baba will light our lamps of life with just water. 

Sai has to light our lamp, which is our Ajnana or ignorance. Then we fill our lives with light that is knowledge.  

Sai forgives us even we keep refusing to follow the path (give him the oil) he showed and he is so patient with us so that we can learn our lessons.

Once we learn and realize, then he pushes us to walk with Shradda and Sabhuri. If we do this enough then he grants us his grace that is ultimate peace or bliss.
