In human life, the guru's place is pre-eminent. By keeping utmost faith in Guru alone, everything is obtained.
A devotee's entire strength is due to his guru. Devotion to the guru is superior to devotion to gods and goddesses.
The guru is the supreme being.

Bhagavadgita 3.5 Karma Yoga- Qualities of the Nature

Bhagvan asked us to perform our actions for the sake of welfare of this world and now he talks about the differences between the actions of a Self realized soul and an ordinary person. If we do not understand these differences it is hard for us to change our attitude and view of this world. It might be difficult to perform selfless actions, but Bhgavan explains in the next verse why it is difficult.

Prakruteh kriyamaanaani gunaih karmaani sarvasah!
Ahamkaara vimudaathmaa kartaahamithi manyate!!

All the actions that are performed are merely by the qualities of nature (Gunas) in all cases. He, whose mind is deluded by egoism, thinks "I am doer".

The world, nature is made up of three qualities and they are Satva, Rajo and Tamo gunas. These three qualities manifested in the form of 23 forms (Tatva Rupas). These are Mind, intellect, Ego (Ahamkaara), 5 elements (Space, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth), 10 indriyas (5 organs of actions & 5 sense organs) and 5 perceptions (Sabda, Sparsa, Rupa, Rasa and Gandha). The three qualities of nature is expressed through all these factors. All the actions are triggered by these qualities only.

If we manifest Satva (noble) quality in our thoughts, our perception of the world will be noble. So whatever quality we project that is what we are going to experience. When the thoughts are tainted with agitation, the actions are also lased with unstable mood and confused. If the thoughts are dull (Tamas), then the actions are also baseless, vicious and tainted with laziness. Thus mind's projection of our world manifests because of past impressions. When we perform our actions by merging with these qualities and with a sense that "I am the doer" then we are called as Vimudaathma. This is the word Bhagavaan uses for these kind of people. They feel that they are this body and mind and attached to the actions that they perform. If we are attached to the fruits of our actions, then we lose sight of the reality. We can not distinguish right from wrong.

The self realization is nothing but crossing these qualities of nature and staying beyond these 3 qualities. But we are bound by these three gunas. We made these 23 factors as our nature and as our personality. In reality there is no relationship between Atma and karma. Because of this adoption of 23 factors, we tend to fall into the illusion that we are this body and mind. When we use our senses, we feel that we are visualizing things, hearing sounds, tasting food items and feeling objects etc. Then we feel that we are the doer of all these actions. We are increasing the impact of these objects in the form of impressions. These impressions drive us to do more actions with attachment. Teh attachment causes pain and suffering. This becomes vicious cycle. We have to change by understanding this very nature of these gunas and change our thinking. Then our attitude towards the world will change. We have to make sure that we understand the consequences of the actions. We can not avoid doing actions but we can detach ourselves from getting attached to the fruits of these actions. Bhagavn reiterated to the Jnaanis that they should never unsettle those with imperfect knowledge.

We can never attain Moksha by quitting actions. We have to let go the attachment of those actions. We have to watch the desires and control the desire to perform actions that are agitated and dull. Good and positive thoughts always keep us on the track. We pay attention to the higher causes of actions. This higher thinking will make us think about the Supreme God who is devoid of all these Gunas. We are bound by the these gunas. But these Gunas are in control of Supreme God. The whole world is his Abode.
