In human life, the guru's place is pre-eminent. By keeping utmost faith in Guru alone, everything is obtained.
A devotee's entire strength is due to his guru. Devotion to the guru is superior to devotion to gods and goddesses.
The guru is the supreme being.

Sri Saisatcharita Chapter - 7

Sai is paramaatma and omniscient. Sai is Parama Guru. He knows what is in our minds and he will help us to go through past karmas. Sai is part of our lives and he helps us in difficult times of our lives.  He will keep us on the track even in good times so that we do not lose sight of reality. We learnt about so many Gurus and most of them taught the truth and made their devotees experience this truth. We also saw different belief systems and different religions. But Baba never was limited to one Sampradaaya and even one religion.  Supreme God does not belong to one religion and if so, how can this supreme energy be called God? When you are in Atma Sthithi (Self realized), there is no Sarira Bhavana and for them everything is nothing but God. So why we have to argue about religions and different faiths? The discussion that whether Baba is Muslim, Hindu, Guru or God is not even essential if we understand the purpose of incarnation of Paramaatma. Lord Sri Krishna says in Bhagavadgita that God comes in the form of Great Gurus. This very truth was told by Hemadpanth in this chapter.  This is the very reason we chant "Sama Sarvamata Sammataaya" in our Sai Ashttotharam.

Baba always used to recite God's name by saying "Allah Maalik" and used to keep Dhuni lighted like Nitya Agnihotra. Sai never had any preference towards one religion or one faith. Only thing he believed in is Supreme God and to follow the path of our Guru. Sai renovated the temples in Shirdi and encouraged Taatya patil to complete these projects. Sai lived very ordinary life and taught us how to live when we are treading the path of spirituality. Whatever people gave in the form of Dakshina, he used to distribute this to poor and other people. By the end of the day, he is always left with nothing. Whoever came to him were granted their wishes according to their eligibility and based on past karmas.

Baba always stayed in a blissful state and sometimes had no feeling of body. There was no question of ego. He used to sit near dhuni for hours in samadhi state. He also gave some natural remedies to some illnesses. He was the epitome of science of Yoga. The Satcharita talks about mainly Dhouti and Khanda Yoga. Baba did special kind of Dhouti where he used to bring out all his intestines and wash them near a well. Someone once saw Baba's body in pieces and got scared. But next day Baba was found as usual in Dwarakamai. This is unique yoga where you make your body into pieces and bring them together later. This is an extraordinary power one can have. Baba never used his powers unless this was helpful to his devotees. He always used to praise God for everything.

Baba always protected his devotees from all kinds of situations. On one hand he protected his devotees and also gave them an opportunity to burn their past karmas by giving them the strength to endure. Once in 1910 a day before Diwaali, Baba was sitting near the Dhini and putting some fire wood into Dhuni. Suddenly he keeps his hand in the Dhuni and leaves it there even though it was burning. Then Syama and Madhava pulls Baba away from the Dhuni. Then Baba tells them that he was protecting a child who accidentally fell from her mother's lap and about to burn in a furnace. He could have done this without him suffering the burns but he had to take off the past actions (Karmas). Here he not only is protecting the child but also providing an opportunity to Bhagoji to serve him so that he can burn his past bad deeds. He was suffering from leprosy and all his body parts were eroding with disease. Serving a Guru like Baba is superior to any other seva. Baba did not give permission to be treated by Dr. paramaanand who was brought by Nana Chandorkar. In this whole incident Baba did three things; By protecting the child from fire, child's parent's faith increased in Baba. Bhagoji was able to serve Baba. Then for Nana and for all of us to understand how Karma theory holds in life. Here Dr. Paramaanand name is also significant which might indicate Atma Sthithi (Total bliss) and Baba used to treat so many illnesses. He never wanted his body ailments to go away. He went through the course of those ailments. The burnt hand is not an issue given his yogic powers. But he is beyond this body, mind and intellect. In a similar way, Baba reassured Kaparde's wife when her son got Plague. Sai took the plague from the boy and cleared him from the disease.

He will show his presence in the lives of his devotees. Once we start believing in Baba he will protect us from any bad outcomes and also gives us his blessings. Nana Chandorkar was working in Nandurbar and was transferred to Pandharpur. Nana was considered to be blessed as Pnadharpur is a holy place. But Nana's Pandharpur is Shirdi where Baba is. So he wanted to get the blessings of Baba before he goes to Pandharpur. Baba was sitting in Dwarakamai and no body knew that Nana was coming to Shirdi. Baba was with Mhalsapathi, Appa Shinde, kashiram and some other devotees and started singing like this "The doors of Pandharpur are open. I am going to Pandharpur- going, going, There I will stay. There I will stay, Stay. That is the abode of my Master". When Nana came to Shirdi devotees told him that Baba was singing about going to Pandharpur. Nana was surprised and understood the greatness of Baba. He took Baba's blessings, udi prasad and left to Pandharpur. Baba knows everything. We just need to trust him and love him. We should not forget him in both pleasures and pains. He is always with us and protects us.
